All-Girl Half Marathon this spring?

Also, this kinda caught my eye. It's all the way up in Columbia, MD and $85, but I like the idea of all female races!

Plus I kinda wanna do the Frederick Half too and complete the "Titanium Girl" challenge! :-O !!! as Rachel asked the other day... Am I insane???

Vasa Ride

I wanted to do this last year but didn't get my act together! Anybody wanna do a fun (and possibly frigid) bike ride concluding at the Swedish embassy? Not much info here yet, but I believe they offer various ride lengths (10, 20, 30 mile options or something like that...) Anyway, you know how I heart THEMED events, especially international ones! And "attend an event at House of Sweden" is on my 101 things list!

SAVE THE DATE
The 2012 Vasa Ride is Sunday, March 4th

Mark your calendars and break out your ski goggles for the region's first large organized bike ride of the season! The Annual Vasa Ride is WABA's bicycle-themed tribute to Sweden's legendary Vasaloppet, the world's longest running cross country ski race. Held on the first Sunday of March, 400 riders of all ages and experience levels join together for a noncompetitive ride to brave the coldness of winter and traverse DC and Maryland's terrain. Thanks to our gracious hosts at the Swedish Embassy, all finishers will celebrate their feats with a traditional bowl of warm blueberry soup. Registration will open at the beginning of Feburary and be capped at 400 riders. And remember, if it snows bring your skis!

Volunteering at AOR? And other stuff.

Were you guys interested in volunteering for American Odyssey relay again? Once again falls on the azn/Kara's birthday weekend.... There are open spots in the afternoon at Fletcher's cove again. Orrrr some spots in the morning up at Great Falls.

eh? I thought it was an okay way to spend a Saturday last year, and I liked the free shirt!

While I'm at it..... how are you guys doing on running goals? I am the absolute pits. Wanna start making some plans for weekend runs? Either of y'all free tomorrow morn? Will be cold, but I just gotta do Soooomething. (did my first workouts in ages this week, returned to zumba after a 2 month lapse then was crazy sore from it, so went to a yoga class at Gtown 2 days later, which pretty much just moved the soreness from my butt/thighs to my shoulders/upper arms.... unnggghhh )

I'd also like to do the Love the Run 5k again this year - either of you up for it? And I know you're out for the St Paddy's 8k, Rach, but howaboutyou, Ambster? Any other races/stuff catch your eyes lately? I'd be up for trying out that free Crossfit class with you Rachel! Or the Sunday free Bikram in Bethesda some time!

January Goals!!!

Morning Starshines!!!!

I did not run on January 1 or on January 2!!! So much for starting the New Year off with running. I did, however, run 3 miles on the 3rd. My goal for January is to make 10 miles a week. The difficult part will be getting to Saturday and not still having 8 or 9 miles left to run.

Do you guys have any New Years/ January running goals?

January Races

I'd kinda like to do the Fairfax 4 Miler on NYE this year. I don't recall this being a particularly cheap race though. I'd go if either of you were interested though! Or that NYE 10k in Ashburn was okay last year. Boring course, but I liked the whore-derves after. And Amber PRed so that was kewl.

OR I'd totally be into a fun group run instead of a race :) I just like the idea of bringing in the new year on a healthy note. Maybe I'll host a Jan 1 new year's post-run brunch.... sound fun?

Also, I saw this one coming up in Jan. No real details available yet, but I was thinking of trying to convince Eddie or other running-shy people to do it, cause it is low key with no official results. Just tossing it out there!

IT'S ALIVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My streak that is. Granted. I've done the bare minimum each day and I only had 20 minutes to spare after finishing yesterday. (Yes. I started running at 11:2o-something.) I think weekends are going to be the hardest.

Streaking

Dear People,

I think I'm going to try to streak in December. That means running at least a mile, every day, for the month. You should do it too. Word.

Why does everyone hate our blog now?

Hehe JAY KAY!

But srsly.

Goblin Gallop? Sara, you still interested? Anyone else? I'm in! I'll bust out The Flash :)

http://www.goblingallop.org/

It's $22 (plus ~$3 service charge), so not tooo shabby. I mean, the t-shirt glows in the dark. BONUS! Fairfax, 10/30, 9am.

Also could anyone be talked into Hot Chocolate 15k in December? There's a dearth of good distance races in that month (for good reason, of course). I think it's like $65 though, smarts a bit.

ALSO!! Sorry I bailed on running this morning, Aber. Maybe we could go out for a jaunt Sat morning? Anyone else wanna join?

Fall!

Hi Frnds!

Amber and I were talking about doing a half marathon this fall. I *think* I might sell/transfer my MCM entry, not really feeling up to the training this year with my bunion feet and would rather focus on grad school apps, volunteering, etc. But don't wanna get toooo lazy. And I missed ATM registration!

October is looking busy for me already sooooo how about Richmond marathon, November 12! There is a full, half, and 8k. Maybe we could get even get a little group together for it? http://www.richmondmarathon.com/ Half marathon registration is $65 and 8k is $25 till June 30.

Or if ppl were interested, I could be talked into VA Beach Half in Sept! Saa would probably love visitors. :)

Racing

Hey Dudes!

My track coach told me that with my mile time there is no reason I shouldn't easily be running 5ks at at 9:30 pace. I know Liz is out of comission a bit with her injury and summer is hot as balls to run in and it sucks to pay money to race that lasts 30 minutes.

BUT

Would you guys be interested in finding a cheap 5k somewhere and testing this whole 9:30 min/mile theory out with me? I've never gotten under 30 min total so I'm dubious at her thought process. I don't actually run many 5ks, usually just the Turkey Trot.

Dash 4 Dad?

Hey dudes. Was thinking about this one, in honor of my Uncle Jim (Aunt Susan's hubby) who is fighting prostate cancer currently. Either of you feel like doing a 4 miler in June? I bet it won't be hot at all. totally. yeah. ha. $35, Pentagon Row.

http://greatprostatecancerchallenge.com/races/dc/

They have a really cute competition where you grab a tie at the 1 mile mark and have to tie it on yourself while running and have it complete by the end, hehe!

Running clinic, free!

Halloooo, I was thinking about hitting up this clinic! The Arlington one is the same day as Taste of Arlington and right in the same neighborhood, so maybe they two events could pair up nicely? :) Anyway, just passing along FYI.

Long Runs

This is mostly to Elizabeth, but Rachel if you're interested I'm not gonna stop you from READING.

This is a special long run schedule for my running group if you ever wanna meet up with them for some longer runs. They run on Sundays which is a bit of a bummer, but they put water out so that's a bit of awesome. They usually have a shorter/longer option. We could also do the normal run group runs on Saturday, that go from 6-10 miles and then runs on Sundays that are usually 10-15 but usually with a shorter option as well
