The countdown begins!!!! I'm starting my training today, because I haven't done shiz-it. I don't feel prepared enough to follow any of the training plans as written, so I went through and combined a couple and made my own.
Not gonna lie, there are some mid- week "medium" length runs that I'll probably shorten or drop depending on how dedicated I'm feeling. I tried to keep the jumps in mileage non-drastic and I think it's mostly ok.
With the long run schedule specifically, what do you guys think? Any word on you leg Liz? And since I'm a dum dum and can't figure out how to add an document attachment and it doesn't copy and paste well, I'll share the document with in in da gmail.

haha good thing yesterday was a rest day! I'm totally on schedule! ..except I'm not sure I'll get to run 2 miles today, I have a meeting tonight with a possible day-of wedding coordinatorrr.. but maybe! the sun stays up pretty late these days, maybe I can do it.
ReplyDeleteI need a good cross-training idea for Weds. I'm terrible about cross-training..
Oy, i missed my leg appointment today! I'm such a blumberbutt. I gave myself the same amount of time to get to falls church that i usually do, but usually my appointments are right at rush hour. so that sucked. and the doctor Shamed me!!! so i'm rescheduled for Thurs.
ReplyDeletei like the google doc though, it's very easy to read!
oops. i meant my appointments AREN'T at rush hour usually... deerrrr.... anyway. i'm dumb and leg kinda hurts again from falling down last night. BLAH.
ReplyDeletecould i maybe play catch up in July? would that just be murder?
I think you are more likely to be able to catch up in July on a healthy leg than to make it at all if you train before you're healed up. So! I guess see how you feel in July, start training, and see if you can make it all the way? Not sure when they do the transfer-your-bib thang, but hopefully it's at a time you can assess your chances better..
ReplyDeleteDefinitely heal first!! The biking will keep you in good shape, so it shouldn't be too hard for you to catch up to us.
ReplyDeleteHOW TO HANDLE THIS:
The relay race that Greg is asking about falls on the weekend in between our two 20 milers, so I'm not sure I'm going to do it. The Army 10 miler occurs on the weekend of our second 20 miler. I wanted to actually race that one so I could use it to help me plan a marathon pace. Should we "race" the 10 miler and then do another slow 10 miles or should we reschedule the second 20 miler (I really wanted to get in two). If we rescheduled I have no idea when we'd do it.
I don't know!! I'm also on the fence about the ragnar relay. I'm sure it would be a fun thing to do sometime, I'm just not sure I want to do it this year. having already paid a lot of money for the marathon, I'm not really excited to pay more for the relay. so that's not helpful but that's where I am right now. however, generally speaking, it actually would fit well into our training program wouldn't it? I mean if we kept it the way it is, we're supposed to do 39 miles that week, we could probably move the trainings around according to how far we'll need to go in the relay..
ReplyDeletehoweverrrr I'm not sure that 20-miler schedule is going to work. I mean I knowww I'm not going to run a 20-miler the day before the army 10-miler, I want to actually be ready for that race. So I'd prefer to do the 20-miler the week before the 10-miler, or even the week before That. so the first 20-miler would be maybe the week before That. This is probably rill confusing. Here's what I'm thinking for the final 2 months:
Sunday 9/6 - 12
Sunday 9/13 - 20
Sunday 9/20 - 12
Sunday 9/27 - 20
Sunday 10/4 - Army 10-miler
Sunday 10/11 - 12
Sunday 10/18 - 8
Sunday 10/25 - Marathon
would that make sense?
oh ps I also meant to say I'm not likely to want to keep going for another 10 miles After the army race.
ReplyDeleteAlrighty,
ReplyDeleteI changed our long runs to that. I also changed 8/30 from 16 miles to 17.
14 to 17 to 20 is a jump of 3 miles each, which seemed better than 14 to 16 to 20. I dunno, probably just semantics at that point, but I changed it anyway. I also changed the Saturday runs so that the 5 mile runs lined up the day before the 20 milers and the 8 mile runs lined up the day before the 12 milers.
Are you guys cool with the new long run set up?
OK i caught up on this line of thought!
ReplyDeleteAssuming i don't get all achey and hurty again, I'm gonna plan on doing both Ragnar and the 10-miler. Sooo, that would have me doing Ragnar on the weekend of the second 20 mile run. Is there any way that would be appropriate? There are some runner assignments that involve running 20 miles but they're 20 HARD miles. So i dont know if that's a good idea. Maybe 15, 16 moderate difficulty miles is about equivalent? Ehhhh??? *scratches head*
This is the distance chart for Ragnar: http://www.ragnarrelay.com/dc/runnerchart.php
Something else to think about Liz: Will you be in Germany for the first 20 miler on the schedule?
ReplyDeleteYuuuuup! I'm relatively confident Greg would either run 20 miles with me or help me plan a route. He'll be doing some fall marathons, if not the MCM, so he'll be up for a couple long ones.
ReplyDeleteJust hope you gais can survive it withOUT me!!!
Ah! actually i'll be in SPAIN that weekend. I might try to squeeze it in earlier then...... How important is it to you guys that we're on the same schedule? (I don't want you to rearrange the Game Plan for me, but I don't want you to feel like I'm not participating either....)
