Long Runs

This is mostly to Elizabeth, but Rachel if you're interested I'm not gonna stop you from READING.

This is a special long run schedule for my running group if you ever wanna meet up with them for some longer runs. They run on Sundays which is a bit of a bummer, but they put water out so that's a bit of awesome. They usually have a shorter/longer option. We could also do the normal run group runs on Saturday, that go from 6-10 miles and then runs on Sundays that are usually 10-15 but usually with a shorter option as well

Running workshop?

Would you guys be interested in a running form workshop at Metro Run/Walk? They do them in their Springfield store on Sundays at 10:30. Maybe we could get up and do an early Burke Lake run again (Aber and I were really feeling the stark contrast in shade between that trail and w&od today!) and then go to one? They cost $10 for a basic thingy and $20 for a little bit more personal package. The one on 9/19 might be the soonest I could go (tho that's the day after our 20mile run so we prob woudn't want to run that morning!). Anyway, thiiiiink about it! We could all prob use some tips on form!

Another weeknight race?

I know you have track practice on Tuesdays, Aber, so I'm mainly trying to poke the Porter into thisa one. It's a 4 mile run on Mt Vernon trail, starting at that Marriot lot. Tuesday Aug 24, 7pm. $10. I'll probably do it becauuuuse, sure, I might as well and it'll only be $5 for me cause I already joined this marathon charity group when I signed up for their Penguin 20 miler. But understandable if you don't wanna cause it's not like it's an amenity-full race, and not chip-timed. Maybe just come run it bandit with me for the heck of it? Not like they can close down the trail to other runners anyway!

Also, Amber, what do you think about Sun, August 22 for our Manassas park run? We gots to do 12 miles that weekend!

Hey frnds!

R&A (and Sara too, if you want!) - Wednesday run this week? Yes? If you guys want, we could start at my new place, I got my living room and kitchen [mostly] all set up and I'm super excited about it. I think I've figured out where that Bluemont Trail crosses nearest to me (seemed like there was a crossover right on Kensington - did you see it, R?) so I could work out a little map of a trot for us.


Also, DC Road Runners are doing another cheap little weeknight race on Tuesday, 8/3, starting in Bluemont Park. It's only $5 for nonmembers, but at the Bastille Day race, Puja signed up as a member and it never asked for any verification of her membership (she had an expired one). So. You could actually do it for free. Thought I might suggest it cause it's cheap and then we'll have some hydration provided for us and accurate timing is always a good motivator! I know it's your track-training night though, Amber. Moment of Panic

It occurs to me, I have to run a half marathon in 8 weeks. I haven't run more than a 10k in probably over a year.

Run for Animals is May 23rd at Wheaton Regional Park.

But I'm only gonna sign up if you guys are interested... I like the cause (supporting the sanctuary) but not the course.

Mud Running and 10k

WUD UP CHICKLETS!

1) Are we doing this mud run in May? If so I'd like to sign up. I also wanna sign up for the Quantico one, are people for sure in for that one? I'll probably sign up for that one either way.

2) One of my 4 fitness goals this year is to run a 10k in under an hour. It's a lofty goal consider a) I suck and b) I only have one speed, but weirder things have happened. I was thinking of doing the 10k Zooma race in Annapolis as my first attempt. That way I still have July, August and September to try. BUT that's both Rachel's birfday and the UMW reunion weekend. Are we doing the reunion?

would anyone feel crazy enough to attempt their Four Courts 4-miler the day before the St Paddy's Day 8k?? I am tempted to go for it. Definitely would require a good amount of training the next couple of weeks, not sure I'm in any position to get there by then BUT if anyone else wanted to try it I would probably see if I could. I want the points!! also if we do the Four Courts 4-miler, one of the races at the Pacers Running Festival (half marathon/half marathon relay/"quarter marathon"), and the Clarendon Day 5k, we could get the "orange line special" medal!

I'd also like to do the Earth Day 5k (April 18 in Silver Spring Sara!), and maybe a couple of the crystal city 5k friday runs? although we tried to do that last year and it never worked out.. there are a bunch of the others I'd like to do but they're a bit far in advance to plan for now.
